Guests during the holiday of Succot: World Space week in israel
World Space Week was celebrated during the week of Succot, with events taking place at four of Israel’s largest cities: Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Haifa and Beersheba. The events were open to the public, with participation free of charge. Space Week was produced by the Ministry of Science and The Israel Space Agency, which invited the public to experience “New Worlds” – a program that included multiple activities: lectures, stargazing, space exhibits and a virtual reality area.
The activities were carried out at the city centers, and included lectures on innovations associated with space, the search for intelligent life in space, startups and space, and more.
Additionally, booths focusing on space were set up; these included SpaceIL’s booth.
The curious crowds arrived at SpaceIL’s virtual reality area and benefited from a ‘360’ experience recounting the story of the first Israeli spacecraft and the mission to land it on the moon.
The event, attended by thousands, was extremely successful. The long lines of people waiting to share the experience demonstrated the public’s huge interest in accessible information about space. We are grateful for this wonderful initiative, which allowed the public at large to participate in enriching activities, at no cost.
To the moon!
